Two months into summer’s season and the 2013 Water Restrictions in four districts, and we’re still seeing mid-day and wrong-day (or everyday) watering at many locations. Help keep what little water we have through summer by being a watchdog, and know the rules:
From www.mwwater.com
With a below-average snowpack and forecasts of another warm spring and dry summer similar to 2012, the four districts that provide water to the Steamboat Springs area – the Mount Werner Water District, the City of Steamboat Springs District, the Steamboat II Metro District, and the Tree Haus Metro District – have issued a drought warning and have announced mandatory Stage 2 water restrictions in accordance with Steamboat Springs Water Conservation Plan. See April 3rd press release- amended.
The Stage 2 water restrictions will go into effect May 1st. The early date will allow landscapers, businesses, and homeowners to set timers to the Stage 2 watering schedule at the beginning of the irrigation season. Early implementation will also allow lawns, shrubs, and trees to adapt early in the growing season and avoid the shock of water reductions in the middle of the growing season. If the spring and summer are cooler and wetter than forecasted, businesses and residents will have benefitted by saving on their water bills.
