The Colorado Green Business Network (CGBN) recently awarded 10 local businesses and organizations across industries for their demonstrated commitment to environmental and social responsibility. CGBN is a state-level initiative created through the Colorado Department of Public Health and the Environment, and each year offers registered members the opportunity to complete surveys focused on policy and leadership and resource reduction to earn points for Bronze, Silver and Gold recognition.
Recognition is based on a tiered system, where businesses earn points on a range of initiatives completed the prior year, from reducing product waste and energy to offering living wages and paid employee volunteer days.

Newly recognized Silver-level businesses (earning at least 50 points) include: Cowgirl Compost CO, Steamboat Engineering and Design Inc., Sunniemade and Steamboat Ski and Resort Corporation.
“Sustainability is a process and CGBN supports continued efforts to increase operational efficiency and implement responsible policies,” said Ashley Dean, CGBN’s Regional Partnership manager. “Cowgirl Compost Co was one of our first Bronze-level recognized businesses, and we are excited to see them elevated to Silver. In 2023, they increased composted material by 49%!”
Celebrate business leadership for climate in our community at a free, public luncheon September 17 from Noon-1:30 p.m.
Bronze-level businesses (earning at least 25 points) include: LiftUp of Routt County, Northwest Data Services, UC Health Yampa Valley Medical Center, Seedhouse Coffee, Gravity Haus and Elevated Mountain Apparel.
As a regional partner of the CGBN, Colorado Green Business Network of the Yampa Valley (CGBN-YV), provides free technical assistance and funding and recognition support to any local business interested in joining and leveling up their efforts toward environmental stewardship.
The CGBN-YV team invites you to celebrate business leadership for climate in our community at a free, public luncheon September 17, Noon-1:30 p.m. in Library Hall at the Bud Werner Memorial Library. Local CGBN businesses and organizations will be there to talk about their products/services and share what they are doing in the green business realm. The event is free, but registration is required.
