Cen$ible Energy, the community efficiency rebate program funded by local partners, is open for 2019 rebate applications for residential and small business members of Yampa Valley Electric Association (YVEA).
Since starting in spring 2015, Cen$ible Energy has provided $121,390 in funding for 1,313 rebates throughout the YVEA territory and helped to stimulate the local economy with $463,322 in purchases made within the community.
“This has been a very popular and valuable program to help community members save energy and reduce utility bills,” said Executive Director Sarah Jones of Yampa Valley Sustainability Council, the nonprofit that administers the program as a service to the community. “Cen$ible Energy funding is depleted each year by fall. We are very pleased for the continued support of our partners to offer rebates for the fifth year.”
Cen$ible Energy offers rebates on six types of efficiency measures as well as free or low-cost energy assessments for YVEA homes and small businesses. Rebates are available currently for LED lights, programmable thermostats for electric-heated buildings, air sealing completed by a homeowner or construction vendor following an energy assessment, hard-wired heat tape timers, blower door testing to check construction for air tightness, and Energy Star rated dishwashers, clothes washers, refrigerators or freezers. Information on current rebate amounts is available at www.Cen$ibleEnergy.org, where receipts can be submitted online within 90 days of purchases.
Cen$ible Energy has helped fund some 300 comprehensive home energy assessments in the past three years performed by local certified building analysts. The assessment is free for customers with YVEA service as well as primary home heating by Atmos Energy natural gas. Customers with only one of those utilities can pay half price or $150 for an assessment.
Cen$ible Energy offers $200 small business assessment rebates for the first 10 commercial customers to sign up each year. The energy review costs $300 after rebate for businesses up to 10,000 square feet. Larger businesses would pay modest additional charges.
