YVSC spent the last month and a half building up the suspense of our new signature fundraiser, the Secret Supper Club, where adventurous diners don’t know the location of their meal until the day of the event.
A global trend started in many cities known for their culinary arts, the Secret Supper Club is an underground movement where a fine dining chef and team deliver an evening you won’t forget at any number of location options – including cabins, luxury homes, yachts, ranches, airplane hangars, museums, and, of course, restaurants.
This year we teamed up with Chef Kate Rench and the Cafe Diva team, unquestionable one of Steamboat’s top knotch restaurants, who always consider sustainable local options for food sources, combine flavors and tastes that wet your lips just thinking about them, and who house one of the most extensive wine lists in the region.
On Thursday December 6th, 2012, co-owners Paul Underwood, Beth Fadel, and Kate Rench and the doting Cafe Diva team served up a one-off menu and an evening our 40 diners won’t soon forget! The food was exquisite, from finger sized duck pizzas to local rib eyes and purple fingerling potatoes, and the wines and beers were flowing fast enough to keep the room buzzing from start to finish.
YVSC hosted a silent auction packed with romance, new years resolutions, feel good donations, and more, and the event grossed $5000, a huge feat for a first event.
And we don’t plan on stopping there!
If you missed this one (we see the tears streaming), look for the second annual event to come early next Fall 2013 at a new location with a new chef, both of the same caliber of Cafe Diva but quite different just the same. The ideas are already streaming in from staff, board and guests, so we’re excited to have found something unique for Steamboat to celebrate with us, and to keep this event growing!
