Resilient Water/Watersheds Director
Climate change in the West is water change in the West, and now is an essential time to advance practices, policies and learning that ensure the people and places of NW Colorado continue thrive in a changing Colorado climate. The Resilient Water/Watersheds Director will be a leading member of the Resilient Land and Water Priority Area at YVSC, reporting to the Executive Director and working collaboratively with a range of program staff to support, establish, manage, monitor and communicate about science-driven actions that increase adaptive capacity and resilience to a warmer and drier future. The Resilient Water Director operates at the interface of science, policy and society and will serve as a technical expert, trusted leader and thought partner to regional, state and federal efforts to build watershed resilience and water conservation successes in NW Colorado.
The Resilient Water/Watersheds Director serves as a regional leader for developing, supporting and advancing solutions, policies, programs and partnerships that connect an increased understanding of how climate change is impacting water resources in NW Colorado to solutions that build water conservation and resilience moving forward.
Full-Time Waste diversion/Circularity Director
The Circularity Director will be lead staff of YVSC’s Waste/Circularity Priority Area and will work collaboratively with regional and statewide partners to support, establish and scale up systems that waste less, recycle more and increase circularity in NW Colorado. The Circularity Director will operate at the interface of state and regional policies and legislation, and will focus on planning, evaluation, reporting, program development and coalition building to drive system innovations that will have a meaningful and lasting impact.
YVSC Internship Program
The goal of the YVSC Internship Program is to connect motivated students and young professionals with professional training and experience that puts them on track to sustainability professions and/or collaborations in the future.
The 12-week program brings interns into contact with YVSC staff and engages them in our programs addressing sustainability issues in the Yampa Valley, while providing them with training and on-the-ground experience in nonprofit work. Using a project-based approach, participants apply what they learn through the internship to contribute to, expand on or develop a meaningful environmental project within our community.
