OCTOBER 2, 2013 BY
Next Saturday October 12th, Yampa Valley Sustainability Council is teaming up with our partners to host the annual Community Recycling Drop Off Day for hard-to-recycle items for residents of Routt County. Included in this collection is Electronic Waste – televisions, laptops, etc., – which has been banned from landfills as of July 2013. The facts on E-Waste:
“Under Colorado law, residential and business electronics are banned from being disposed of in a landfill and must be recycled. Electronics are made from valuable resources such as precious metals, copper, and engineered plastics, all of which require considerable energy to process and manufacture. Recycling electronics recovers valuable materials and as a results, reduces greenhouse gas emissions, saves energy, and saves resources by extracting fewer raw materials.”
For more information about what will be taken at this event visit http://yvsc.org/calendar/upcoming-events/recycling-drop-off/
YVSC is in need of volunteer help for this event – please email recycle@yvsc.org if you can help!
A big thanks to our partners at this event!!
