Title: Reforestation Evaluation at Rabbit Ears Pass Short description: Come work with the US Forest Service near Rabbit Ears Pass to evaluate sites for future reforestation efforts. MEDIUM: Up to 5 miles of walking through forested terrain Project details: The Routt National Forest near Rabbit Ears Pass was ravaged by fires in recent years. Conifer forests are vitally important in the fight against climate change, and can sequester up to 10 tons of carbon per hectare, per year. The US Forest Service is planning to reforest various areas in Spring 2022, but must first determine priority sites. To help in this effort, we will be measuring and mapping future reforestation sites, and determining where tree planting will be necessary. This project will be occurring over three days, please sign up for whichever days work best for you.
