Colorado is not doing a great job in recycling (1) (less than 20% of the municipal waste stream was recycled or composted in 2009 (2)) relative to the rest of the nation (34% nationwide). Less than half of the counties in the state have recycling available for residents at the curb (3). Some areas of the state have been very active and successful in recycling however, these areas and industries have not been able to compensate for the rest of Colorado.
